We haven’t tried to camp with the kids yet, and maybe we won’t for a while! But some friends of ours have a great story of camping with their 2yo son who woke up screaming at midnight and then other tent lamps starting going on so one took him to the car, the other broke camp and they drove home. that is to say: you are not alone.

Hold ‘er there, Newt! Seems that lil’ buckaroo was a bit fussy. I reckon a two year old might not be kickin’ up his heels ’bout snoozin’ in diff’rnt bed, what with all them bugs a’chatterin’ about an all. I reckon y’all might wait til he gets growed up to be Violets age. I’ll bet he’ll enjoy hisself more on them tough outings, an’ you will too! Yeehaw.

We’ve been planning to try the camping experience (in our own yard!) this summer too. I figure I’ll head inside with Dean if things go badly. I applaud you for trying it – you never know how it’s going to go til you try!! And perhaps they’ll remember all the fun they had (while you remember the anxiety of it all!).
